Requirements for a Duty-Free Relocation

Damit Ihr Fahrzeug ohne Zoll und ohne Einfuhrumsatzsteuer nach Kanada eingeführt werden kann, müssen folgende gesetzliche Bedingungen erfüllt sein.

1 Usual residence abroad (minimum 12 months)

Ihr Hauptwohnsitz muss mindestens zwölf Monate ununterbrochen außerhalb von Kanada gelegen haben.

Accepted places of residence must be officially verifiable.

2 Minimum Vehicle Ownership Period (at least 6 months)

Das Fahrzeug muss mindestens sechs Monate vor Ihrer Übersiedlung auf Sie zugelassen gewesen sein.

Important: The registration must be verifiable through official documents.

3 Transfer Restriction for 12 Months

Nach der Einfuhr nach Kanada darf das Fahrzeug für zwölf Monate nicht:

Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the title - and why is it so important?

The "Certificate of Title" is proof of ownership, comparable to the vehicle registration certificate, Part II. It is crucial because without the original title, export from the USA and subsequent import/customs clearance in Germany are not possible.

2) What does "Lienholder entry on the title" mean?

The vehicle is financed. Legal export is not possible without a written lien release.

3) Will Masso Cars & Co. buy the car for me – or will I buy it myself?

You purchase the vehicle yourself. We assist you with the selection, inspection, and purchase process and ensure that everything is properly prepared (data check, documents, process management). The purchase agreement and payment of the vehicle price are made directly between you and the seller.

4) How does it work at Copart if I can't bid there myself?

At auctions, we bid on your behalf through our registered US dealer. You specify your maximum bid beforehand. For auctions like Copart or IAAI, a deposit is required so that our dealer can place a binding bid for you. After a successful bid, you will receive the invoice directly from the dealer (purchase price + auction/Copart fees).

5) How quickly can you find a suitable vehicle for me – and what information do you need?

We usually start immediately after receiving your inquiry. To quickly find suitable vehicles, we need: model, make, your budget, mileage, year of manufacture, and other "must-haves" (e.g., color, engine, accident-free yes/no). The clearer the criteria, the faster the list of results and the next steps toward your purchase.

6) What are the payment terms?

Auctions are subject to fixed payment deadlines: vehicles must be paid for within 3 business days. Therefore, we request a deposit of 20% of your maximum bid before bidding. The remaining amount is due within 2 business days. Please note that withdrawal after a successful bid is not possible.
